Key Dates up to the Election
There are less than 60 days until the election, and Harford Democratic Party and the statewide Coordinated Campaign are mobilizing voters throughout the county and state! Here are a couple of key deadlines from the Harford County Board of Elections to be aware of:
Voter Registration - Tuesday, October 15 at 5 pm. Registrations and changes must be signed and postmarked 21 days before the election.
Early Voting - Thursday, October 24 - Tuesday, October 31 (7-8 pm), locations TBD
Vote-by-Mail - applications for mail-in ballots are due at 8 pm, October 29 (11:59 pm deadline for online applications)
We urge all registered voters to check their registrations and to make any needed changes by the October 15 deadline to avoid any issues at the polling station. Note that if you encounter problems on the day you go to vote, you will still be able to submit a provisional ballot. But we advise being proactive rather than reactive!
Harford County Events and Opportunities
There are many opportunities to get involved prior to the election to help elect Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Angela Alsobrooks, and Blane Miller! You can find and sign up to all of our events and volunteer opportunities at the Mobilize website and you can learn about future events by email by signing up on the Harford Democratic Central Committee’s volunteer page. I’ve included some recent statistics from our Volunteer Coordinator and HCDCC member Anthony Lyon:
Debate Watch Party - Join us on Tuesday, September 10 at the State Theater in Havre de Grace to watch the debate between Vice-President Kamala Harris and her opponent! Doors open at 7:30, with the debate starting at 9:00 pm admission is free with food and beverages available for purchase!
Canvass Opportunities - We are knocking doors every weekend from now until the election. Our volunteers have already knocked on more than 1,300 doors and we aim to contact many more voters in the coming weeks.
Phonebanking - We are making calls to get-out-the-vote (GOTV) by contacting younger Democrats who are infrequent voters. We’ve made more than 3,000 calls so far. You can help mobilize and engage this critical demographic and introduce them to the party that is bringing change, hope, and joy.
Post-card writing - We have sent more than 2,000 postcards to contact newly registered Democrats and to GOTV amongst infrequent Democratic voters.
More events will be posted on the Mobilize website as we organize them.
The stakes are high - but we can win this and use this election to build a stronger Democratic Party in Harford County! Let’s make sure we’ve done everything we can do come November 5.
