Board of Elections Vacancy - Applications Being Accepted
A vacancy has recently opened up on the Harford County Board of Elections effective immediately, to serve the remainder of the 4-year term which will conclude following the 2026 gubernatorial election. Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor from nominees submitted by the Central Committee to provide oversight to the election process in Harford County. Major duties include conducting the canvass of ballots during election season (particularly on Oct. 15, Nov. 5, 7, 11, and 15th), designating precinct boundaries and the location of polling places, and otherwise working with the Election Director and Staff to ensure smooth and fair elections. The Board meets regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5 pm at the Board of Elections Office.
The Central Committee will be accepting applications to fill the position from registered Democrats beginning today. The board will consider applications beginning the week of Sept. 30 with all materials due by email to chair@harforddemocrats.org no later than 7 pm, Monday October 7.
If you are interested in serving as a custodian of our most sacred civic ritual, and have been a registered voter in Harford County for 5 years, please send the following in an email to chair@harforddemocrats.org:
Resume including name, address, phone number and email address, and experience in local political and electoral processes (e.g., canvassing experience, election judge work, etc.)
A short statement of why you wish to serve on the Board of Elections (3-4 sentences)
Your availability beginning at 6 pm on Wednesday October 9, for interview during a special public meeting of the HCDCC over Zoom.
The meeting will occur publicly on Zoom; to attend please register here. The Committee will hold a vote following the interviews to select a nominee to be submitted to the Governor’s office immediately upon conclusion of the meeting.
Vice Presidential Debate Watch Party
Come and join other Harford County Democrats as we watch Governor Tim Walz debate Senator JD Vance at the State Theater in Havre de Grace. Doors open at 7:30 pm and food and drink will be available for purchase. We had a great time at the presidential debate, and this one also promises to be worth watching!
