HCDCC Seeking Board of Elections Nominees
Are you interested in monitoring the counting of votes in Harford County? Would you like to participate in drawing precinct lines as the county grows? Is recruiting election judges something that interests you? Then if you meet the qualifications, you are invited to apply for a seat on the Harford County Board of Elections.
The Board of Elections is appointed anew after every general election. With Gov. Wes Moore’s registration as a Democrat, the majority of each local election board will be
Democrats. The qualifications are:
Registered voter in Harford County for five years;
Registered Democrat; and
Availability to be interviewed by the State Democratic Central Committee for Harford County.
If you have the interest and you meet the qualifications, you are invited to submit an
application to the State Democratic Central Committee for Harford County. There are five seats on the Board of Elections, and the Central Committee will choose among the applicants several nominees to forward to our new Governor. Governor Moore will appoint three members to the board.
As soon as possible and preferably by January 31, 2023, fill in the data requested by the
Governor’s Appointments Office in an online form to be found at govappointments.Maryland.gov. In addition, for consideration by the Democratic Central Committee, submit your application by emailing your cover letter and resume to our chairman at chair@harforddemocrats.org. The deadline to apply to the Central Committee is noon on Feb. 8, 2023.
The noon on Feb. 8 deadline is an extension from an earlier announcement. The
central committee will interview applicants on Wednesday evening, Feb. 8 at a location to be determined. Applicants will come before a group of ten members, each of whom is committed to equal opportunity. Any votes will be in a public session that evening.
There is some compensation and expense reimbursement for Election Board members. The Board’s regular meetings are once a month, and there are additional duties in the county associated with elections.
